About Zouk Manchester
Contemporary Indian curry and grill house.
Zouk’s Asian restaurant specialises in 'apna', or home style cooking which Confidential’s Mark Garner describes as ‘shot through with colour and heat from the spices and herbs’. But there’s plenty to please conservative palates with a menu that includes seafood (king prawns, haddock, tiger prawn, scallops, cooked with pomegranate & coriander seeds) cooked on a ‘water grill’ (which steams and grills at the same time). Slow-cooked curries include the aniseedy lamb nihari; a thrill for any meat lover. Be warned: some dishes are strictly for the connoisseur. Garner describes megaz (or brains) as a kind of ‘Eastern haggis with the heat from the chillies and bucketloads of ground spices”’ while paya are sheeps hooves which ‘melt off the bone into fragrant broth’. Start with Punjabi lollipops (chicken and prawn dipped in pomegranate) and enjoy a hookah or two under the canopy outside. The large, purpose-built space and tasteful lighting lends an unexpected nobility to this always-busy restaurant.
I have been numerous times, always had the lamb handi, this time it wasn't very nice, lot of fat on the lamb, wasnt tasty at all, quite disappointed.
Not impressed, waiter was so rude and completely ruined the experience. Also food wasn’t great for what it cost overall the environment wasn’t relaxing or nice to eat in. I had to ask the waiter to clean the table as soon as we were brought to it as there was crumbs and stains left on the table from the customers before and I was given such a rude look when I asked for the table to be wiped. Overall very disappointing and will definitely not be returning!
Absolutely amazing food and service
Had a lovely meal at Zouk, great atmosphere, and friendly staff, will come again...
The other customers around us were extremely loud and drunk. We couldn't even hear ourselves talk. What was meant to be a nice meal out turned into a ruined evening with a headache.
Food and service very good, very disappointed at social distancing though, lot of people too close together downstairs and people constantly walking past within inches, there was a whole floor upstairs that could have been utilised to keep people a safe distance apart, will return at some point in sure but not in the near future as this was too risky for my health
Great staff enjoyable atmosphere overall good evening
The staff very friendly. As we entered, all staff including the chefs in the open kitchen smiled and said hello. Nice warm welcome. King prawn starter was amazing 10/10 so juicy and plump and flavourful. The chilo kebab was the best ever. Lovely succulent fillet of lamb, the marinade and spice was so delicious. I could eat 10 portions! Melt in the mouth, fresh quality lamb. Amazing. Moving onto the main course, the king prawn Karahi curry was so so disappointing. I asked for medium but it was bland, not a single ounce of spice and it was watery and no flavour. Really disappointed and it’s the first time Zouk have served a tasteless curry. And I have been coming here for years and years. Will never order this curry again. I feel sad now.
Service was quite poor, but food was good
Very good value for money with the Tiffin boxes. Service extremely slow from ordering, to arrival of food and waiting to pay for the bill. However good location and food is worth the wait.
Wonderful curries as usual. Well above standard Indian restaurant food.
Slow to start with getting drinks but Good cocktails! Good came fast but tikka masala is not a masala- far too spicey so disappointed as couldn’t eat it
Food was amazing, however, the service wasn't great, the table was small for 5 people and the waiters were grumpy. I asked for the dessert menu after 30 min waiting, another employee approached to say that they don't have a dessert menu.
Food was good, nobody else commented but I felt the food could have been hotter, especially the starter - there was a group of us maybe this is the reason. I didn’t like the recommended tip neither did anyone on the table, we usually tip and we did last night. That should be a choice not a suggestion especially with the amount you added on felt it was quite cheeky to the point I’m not sure I’d return.
Food was great but service could be quicker, we waited nearly 15mins before anyone even came over to our table. That said the waitress was great.
Hi, I have been to Zouk many times and have always found everything to be spot on. On Friday we found the service to be terrible, starter plates not cleared before mains arrived, no big plates for mains we had to use side plates, empty glasses and bottles not cleared so we had very limited room on the table.
Hi we had a lovely evening apart from 2 family members finding plastic in there food and one of them was heavily pregnant apart from that the staff were great the atmosphere was great just a bit of putting finding plastic in your food
Been here many times during the week and not too busy. Went Saturday night and it was absolutely packed everywhere. Food was fantastic, really great quality, nothing like a typical Indian at all. Great choice of different dishes.
Service was odd - communal dishes plonked on individual’s plates and empty dishes not taken away, no serving spoons provided etc. But food delicious and team friendly so enjoyed the meal.
Excellent as always!
Fantastic service, customer service. Food, ambience and I would definitely come back if in Manchester again
Had a lovely time. Only thing that ruined it was the waiter. I asked for service charge to be taken off as I like to have free will on what service charge is given. We was dining as friends so would have given him more than the £10 charge. He then proceeded to ask why big not in was there a problem it was more abrupt. Totally ruined our evening.
The food is good... can’t say the same about the pillar cocktail that was supposed to taste pineapple, but tasted nothing like pineapple... overall the place is nice, good atmosphere, friendly staff and prompt service. I will definitely come back to try the sisha.
